What began as a local family business has grown across three generations, but the idea behind it hasn't changed much: provide quality materials, dependable service, and local people who know how to help customers get the job done.

Where It Started

Our story began when Richard Cook recognized the need for a local source of ready-mix concrete, sand and gravel in Northern New Mexico.

Starting with one location in Española, the business expanded to serve communities throughout the region, including Los Alamos and Santa Fe. What began with one location and a simple idea has grown across three generations—but our connection to Northern New Mexico has remained at the heart of the business.

Our parent company, Española Mercantile Company, has roots in Northern New Mexico dating back to 1905. Today, its family of companies provides construction materials and services throughout the region—from ready-mix concrete, asphalt and aggregates to paving, earthwork and excavation.
